City of Milpitas holds municipal elections every other year, in November of even years.

On November 4, 2008, voters in Milpitas will vote in the Municipal Election for:

  • A new Mayor (the current Mayor’s term expires and term limits apply) to a 2-year term to expire November 2010
  • Two Councilmembers to 4-year terms which will expire November 2012

Filing papers to run for office occurs over a four week period, starting July 14, 2008 through August 8, 2008.  If no incumbent files for a particular office, the filing period will extend to August13, 2008.  Those interested in forming a Campaign Committee or Political Action Committee may do so at any time (visit www.fppc.ca.gov).  Call the City Clerk at 586-3001 for more information.

New in 2008, Milpitas Vote-By-Mail voters are welcome to drop off their voted ballots in secure ballot boxes in the Milpitas City Clerk’s office.
