The City of Milpitas provides safe and fun event opportunities that allow Milpitas and surrounding communities a chance to come together to celebrate various special events within the community.

YPT’s Family Day

This family resources faire will host local businesses and service organizations to promote their services offered for the youth in our community.  The event will include entertainment, arts and crafts, resource booths and other fun activities for all attendees.  For more information contact Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services at (408) 586-3210.

Memorial Day Ceremony

Veterans Memorial Park
457 E. Calaveras Blvd.
A special Memorial Day ceremony will be held to honor local service men and women who have given their lives in the cause of freedom.  The ceremony will consist of City dignitary remarks, a guest speaker, patriotic musical selections, and conclude with light refreshments.  For more information contact Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services at (408) 586-3210.

4th of July Events

Milpitas Sports Center, 1325 E. Calaveras Blvd.
Milpitas celebrates our country’s Independence Day with a day of water fun at the Milpitas Sports Center Pools and an evening of music & ground fireworks on the Sports Center’s Football field.  

Pool Party - 1:00-5:00 pm  Milpitas Sports Center Pool
Music, games, fun and much more!  BBQ lunch available for purchase from the Milpitas Firefighters Local 1699 (proceeds benefit the R.A.P. program)  Please Note: Space may be limited at times due to pool capacity.

Concert & Fireworks  -  8:00 pm (Gates Open at 7:30 pm) 
Milpitas Sports Center Football Field
Come enjoy an evening of music by the Silicon Valley Houserockers and exciting fireworks.  Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the celebration!  Fireworks will be at approximately 9:30 pm.

The Summer Concert Series 2008 is here!  For your enjoyment, Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services continues its Summer Concert Series this year by providing four outstanding shows for your listening pleasure.  Bring your family and friends  to these family style concerts, pack a picnic dinner and spend a relaxing evening at Murphy Park listening to great music.    Murphy Park is located on Yellowstone, just east of S. Park Victoria Dr.

June 24: TEXAS HOLD’EM
Texas Hold’em is a group of 3 energetic musicians paying tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn.  The group covers songs all the way from his early career right up to his final album.

July 8: JAMFUNKSHUS
This 11-piece band (featuring a full 5-piece horn section) covers a range of musical styles and high level of musicianship and professionalism.  Carrying a deep respect of the “old school” elements of funk and R&B, JamFunkShus lays down the classic hits with attention to detail.

July 22: TONETTE JEANINE
This solo artist is supported by a 4-piece band called Johnny & The B’ Goods.  Considered a “true entertainer,” TJ has a three-octave range and a voice that is mesmerizing, rich and powerful!

August 5: ZEBOP!
Taking their name from the classic 1981 Santana album, ZEBOP! consists of 7 energetic and talented Bay Area musicians who take great pride in performing the music of Santana.


Movies in the Park 2008

Returning this year for your enjoyment is our Movies in the Park!  The City of Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services will bring fun, family-themed events and provide outdoor community movies.  Movies are Rated G or PG, and will be shown on the grass area starting at sunset.  Movie titles are subject to change without notice. 

August 14: Bee Movie
Barry B. Benson, a bee who just graduated from college, is disillusioned with his only job prospect - honey.  When he ventures outside the hive, he breaks a cardinal rule and talks to a human - a florist named Vanessa, and is shocked to find out that humans have been stealing bees’ honey for centuries and decides to sue them in this animated comedy.

August 21: National Treasure: Book of Secrets
Treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates is back and looking to discover the truth behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.  He finds John Wilkes Booth’s diary and is determined to uncover the mystery within the 18 missing pages of this great adventure.

This special dedication will provide the community a chance to remember those who lost their lives on September 1, 2001.  Taking the spirit and gratitude of resent and thankful citizen Dennis Smith, we wish to acknowledge Milpitas’ First Responders on a day that commemorates the dangers that they face, by incorporating a remembrance into the City’s annual recognition of Patriot Day – September 11th.  The dedication will be centered on a photograph of the Twin Towers, which was donated to the City of Milpitas by the Milpitas High School Photography Department, and coordinated with a memorial to the victims of 9/11 in the Milpitas Phantom Art Gallery at the Milpitas Community Center.  The ceremony will consist of a flag stating, “In remembrance of the 2,996 lives lost on September 11”, and the ringing of the fireman’s bell.  For more information contact Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services at (408) 586-3210.
Spooktacular Halloween Event

A Halloween event so fun, it's scary! Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services brings to Milpitas an exciting afternoon that ghosts and goblins of all ages can enjoy. A pumpkin patch, Trick-Or-Treat doors, crafts and movies will entertain everyone in your family. Don't forget to break your costumes out early for our Costume Contest! All this and hauntingly good treats available throughout the day makes Spooktacular an event you won't want to miss! Holiday Open House & Tree Lighting

Breakfast with Santa

Co-hosted with the Milpitas Firefighters Local 1699, breakfast will be served to participants, who can have their picture taken with Santa, enjoy sounds of the holiday and eat breakfast prepared by Santa’s elves and the Milpitas Firefighters Local 1699.  Participants are able to bring a gift to donate to the Annual Toy Drive put on the Milpitas Firefighters Local 1699.  For more information contact Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services at (408) 586-3210.
