The Milpitas Police Department is committed to keeping its community as safe as possible. The Milpitas Police Department has made available for public viewing a computer database of registered sex offenders. This database is maintained by the California Department of Justice and is located in the Police Department lobby. The public viewing hours are
Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, by appointment only, contact the Watch Commander at 586-2405. The following are requirements for eligibility to view the database:
- The applicant shall provide a California driver's license or California identification card showing that the applicant is at least 18 years of age. Applicants who are active members of the Military need not present a California ID card or Driver’s License to
view the database. Proof of assignment or a Military ID will suffice.
- The applicant shall also sign the Request to Review Sexual Offender Identification Information form (provided in Lobby), stating a purpose in order to have access, and attesting that (s)he understands the purpose of the release of information is to allow
members of the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders, and that he or she understands it is unlawful to use information obtained from the CD-ROM or other electronic medium to commit a crime against any registrant or to engage in
illegal discrimination or harassment of any registrant.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) sergeant coordinates the Milpitas Police Department's responsibilities with respect to Megan's Law. Any concerns or questions regarding Megan's Law or other SIU related matters should be directed to the SIU sergeant at (408)586-2504.
