Sanitary SewerSewage Backflow Prevention Program: A new program is available to Milpitas residents to obtain free sewage backflow prevention devices. This device is placed on top of the clean-out, and has a valve which closes if sewage begins to backup. Free devices can be obtained from Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), by contacting them through their website, www.sewersmart.org. Devices can be installed by the resident or residents can hire a licensed plumber to install this device at his own expense. You may also call City staff at 586–3351 for more information.
