Programs of Interest: Juvenile Fire Setter Counseling - the Fire Department offers early intervention counseling to young children who have shown an unhealthy interest in fire and fire setting. Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program. Public Education - the Fire Department can be scheduled to make a variety of fire and life safety presentations to groups. Of particular interest are programs designed for children. Safely Surrendered Baby Law - The Safely Surrendered Baby Law (also known as the Safe Haven Law) allows a parent or person with lawful custody to surrender a baby confidentially to a Safe Haven site, without fear of arrest or prosecution for child abandonment. » more... Station Tours - Under certain circumstances, groups can schedule station tours by making an appointment. These tours are scheduled when they do not conflict with other department business. Volunteers - The Fire Department participates in the City of Milpitas Community Volunteer Program. Although no emergency response positions are utilized in the program, volunteer positions in public education, disaster planning and training and fire prevention are sometimes available.
