Citywide Free Public WiFi Internet Service
Silicon Valley Unwired, a public/private non-profit partnership between the City of Milpitas as the owner, International Network Solutions as the operator and Google as a major services contributor and financial supporter, offers free basic wireless Internet service throughout the City. Find your location in the coverage area.
How do I connect?
Any standard WiFi-enabled device (laptop, iPhone, etc.) can connect. Search for available wireless networks and select "SVUPublicWiFi" (open authentication, no encryption). You will eventually need a Google account to logon.
Will it work inside my home or business?
Likely only with the help of a WiFi modem or high-power WiFi card, which amplifies the signal strength of the client device.
Where can I find more information and get help?
There is no direct e-mail or live telephone support available, as this is a free service offered by a non-profit organization. However, there will be information at www.svunwired.org, messages can be received at support@svunwired.org, and the similar Google WiFi network in Mountain View offers additional valuable information at wifi.google.com.
If you are having trouble connecting to the network, there may be a problem with the network. You can leave a message with Silicon Valley Unwired to let them know. The number is 408-365-4801.
