|This division ensures that residential, commercial and industrial properties are maintained in accordance with regulations of the Municipal Code and Uniform Housing Code and administers the Graffiti Abatement Program, the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program and the Animal Control Ordinance. This division also administers the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the City's Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program to benefit low income residents.|
The mission of Homeownership Programs is to provide affordable housing opportunities by offering below-market interest rate mortgage loans to very low-to-moderate income first-time homebuyers. The Program strives to achieve availability of mortgage funds 365 days a year, an equitable geographic distribution of its loans throughout the state, and equal balance between newly constructed and resale homes. There are several unique features and programs offered which may fit the need of the prospective buyer. Housing Element (2007 - 2014):
The Housing Element requires cities to plan to meet their existing and projected housing needs including their share of the regional housing need. State law requires that the Housing Element be updated every five years. The prior Milpitas Housing Element, certified by HCD in 2002, is still valid today.
