Every citizen can make a commendation for any employee of the Police Department. The commendation may be submitted to the Police Department in person, on-line, by telephone, or by mail.

Below you will find the Department address and contact information to submit commendations:

Complaint Procedure:

The State of California has mandated that local police agencies have a procedure to investigate citizen's complaints against the employees of these organizations. In addition, law enforcement agencies must make a written description of the procedure available to the public. If you want to have a copy of this procedure you may visit our Department, you may telephone and ask for a copy, or you may request a copy via e-mail.

If you wish to file a complaint against an officer call the Patrol Watch Commander who is on duty. This supervisory person can be reached at (408) 586-2400.

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AGAINST A POLICE OFFICER FOR ANY IMPROPER POLICE CONDUCT. CALIFORNIA LAW REQUIRES THIS AGENCY TO HAVE A PROCEDURE TO INVESTIGATE CITIZEN'S COMPLAINTS. YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO A WRITTEN DESCRIPTION OF THIS PROCEDURE. THIS AGENCY MAY FIND AFTER INVESTIGATION THAT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO WARRANT ACTION ON YOUR COMPLAINT; EVEN IF THAT IS THE CASE, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE THE COMPLAINT AND HAVE IT INVESTIGATED IF YOU BELIEVE THE OFFICER BEHAVED IMPROPERLY. CITIZEN COMPLAINTS AND ANY REPORTS OR FINDINGS RELATING TO COMPLAINTS MUST BE RETAINED BY THIS AGENCY FOR AT LEAST FIVE YEARS.
