The Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services Department is dedicated to providing endless opportunities for the community to have recreational, healthful and educational experiences. The Department services all age groups (young children to senior citizens), through the various programs offered. Youth & Teen programs include Preschool, after school care programs, Rainbow Theatre (dramatics), teen programs, a year-round swim team, summer swim lessons, summer day camps, and special interest classes (arts & crafts, cooking, dance, music, fitness and individual and team sports). Adult programs include the Sports Center (fitness center and many aerobics/fitness classes, lap swim, and adult sports programs), and various special interest classes (ie: dance, music and sports). The Senior Center offers drop-in and class-style activities, day trips, a lunch program, and Case Manager services. Other offerings include city-wide special events, grants for cultural art events, and volunteer services. The Community Center, Senior Center, Teen Center and multiple outdoor facilities are also available to rent, for functions up to 300 people. The Parks Division is also responsible for the maintenance of over 25 parks and outdoor facilities.


Facility Closure Dates:

The Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services facilities are closed on all City of Milpitas holidays as listed below:

New Year's Day (January 1st)

Martin Luther King, Jr's Birthday (3rd Monday in January)

Lincoln's Birthday (February 12th)

President's Day (3rd Monday in February)

Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)

Independence Day (July 4th)

Labor Day (1st Monday in September)

Veterans Day (November 11th)

Thanksgiving Holiday (4th Thursday and Friday in November)

Christmas Holiday (December 24th and 25th)

Please Note: If a holiday falls on a Saturday, the facilities will be closed on the Friday before. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the facilities will be closed on the following Monday.

Mission Statement:

The City of Milpitas Parks & Recreation Services mission is to enrich our community through exceptional programs and services.

Parks & Recreation Services supervises the City's recreation operations; administers the City's recreation budget; coordinates recreation promotional, public relations and publicity programs; coordinates City-wide sponsor and donation program; administers the City's Cultural and Arts Support Grant program; coordinates facility rentals.

Parks & Recreation Services has many volunteer opportunities available. More than 14,000 hours were donated to help enhance our programs last year.
