Cultural ArtsThe City of Milpitas is proud to offer a variety of art programs, which add to the vitality of the community. The Milpitas Arts and Culture Grant Program (MACG) is a competitive grant program where both group and individuals can apply for funding. The Phantom Art Gallery is located in the Milpitas Community Center. Display space is available for artists to display their work, once approved by the Arts Commission. Rainbow Theatre is a youth theatre program for ages 8-18. Our young performers produce six shows throughout the year, in addition to two Satellite shows that are performed at school sites in Milpitas, performed by the children who attend that school. Milpitas Community Concert Band: The City of Milpitas Community Concert Band (MCCB) is kicking off its 17th season starting September 2009! MCCB hosts three family-style concerts throughout the year (fall, spring and summer) and is a musical presence at the City of Milpitas’ Tree Lighting, Veterans and Memorial Day Ceremonies. MCC is always looking for new members and group collaborations! This wind ensemble meets Wednesday evenings, 7:00-8:00 pm at the Milpitas Community Center. Musicians skilled in woodwind, brass and percussion instruments are invited to join. Annual membership fee is just $30.00 for the September 2009-2010 season. New members may join at any time during the season. MCCB Photo Gallery The Arts Commission and Public Art Committee are two bodies that provide recommendations to the City Council on items related to art and public art in Milpitas. Milpitas Arts Commission’s Mission Statement: “The Milpitas Arts Commission, in order to enhance the quality of life in its community, shall promote, provide and encourage the arts in the City of Milpitas.”
