Elections

The City of Milpitas will hold its next regularly scheduled municipal election on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.  Local election is held each November in even numbered years. On the ballot for voters to elect will be candidates for the office of one Mayor (2 year term expiring in December 2022) and for the offices of two City Councilmembers (4-year terms expiring in December 2024).  Incumbent office holders may run again for new terms.  Candidate filing will open at 8:00 AM on Monday, July 13, 2020 and close at 5:00 PM on Friday, August 7, 2020.

Any candidate who wishes to begin fundraising prior to the start of candidate filing may do so by forming a Committee, filing FPPC Form 501 with the City Clerk, filing FPPC form 410 with the California Secretary of State, and filing campaign reports (Form 460) with the City Clerk at appropriate filing deadlines.

For general guidance to potential Milpitas candidates for office, you may review “Candidate Guidelines” from the 2018 election.
