Legoland Discovery Center Bay Area: The 31,000 square feet indoor amusement center for families and kids of all ages at the Great Mall received building permit final and opened in mid-2021, marking the first Discovery Center in California.

Element Hotel, 521 Alder Dr., a 5-story, 194-room hotel: As of mid-2021, the building structure and exterior work have been completed. Various interior work continues to be in progress. The hotel is estimated to be completed in 2021.

Amazon, 225 N. McCarthy Blvd., a single-story building leased by Amazon for warehouse and office use: As of mid-2021, the building shell is complete, with work continuing on site improvements and landscaping. Amazon has begun its tenant improvement with estimated completion in 2021.

Stratford School, 25 Corning Ave.: Seismic upgrade and tenant improvement of the building are underway in 2021.

Metro Flats, 1401 S. Milpitas Blvd., a 108-unit residential development: In late 2020, the project completed all 108 units in the development, receiving certificate of occupancy.

Anton Apartments: After four years of construction and inspection activities, in late 2020, this project fully completed its 316-unit multifamily apartment development wrapped around a parking garage at 750 E. Capitol Ave, receiving certificate of occupancy. The structure at 730 E. Capitol Ave. is the sister building in this mixed-use development with 266 units, currently under construction. The projects join other housing developments near the Milpitas Transit Center.

Tarob Court Townhomes: The first phase 59-unit townhome residential development at 1980 Tarob Ct. is estimated to be completed in 2021. The second phase 53-unit development at 1992 Tarob Ct. is in progress with some units beginning to receive temporary certificate of occupancy in 2021.

Lantana, 1675 S. Milpitas Blvd., a 5-story, 216-unit mixed-use development: Construction and inspection activities continue to progress. As of mid-2021, the building is at full height and exterior finishes are nearing completion.

SummerHill Apartments, 312 Gates Dr., phase one 5-story 333-unit mixed-use development wrapped around a 6-story parking garage: The project is nearing completion with an estimated certificate of occupancy issuance in 2021.

Robson Homes Finch Hollow, 1005 N. Park Victoria Dr., 38 single-family residential development with 10 accessory dwelling units:  The project is currently under various stages of construction and is estimated to be completed in 2022.

The Fields is a premier residential and retail development located at the corner of Great Mall Parkway and McCandless Drive in Milpitas.

Strategically located between the I-880 and I-680 freeways, The Fields is also located adjacent to the new Milpitas Transit Station, connecting its residents to the greater Bay Area.

The Fields is a phased development on a 23-acre site, featuring four apartment communities totaling 1,148 residential units, approximately 100,000 sq ft of retail and commercial development, and a 162-room hotel.

The first two apartment buildings, Turing and Graham, are complete with the Turing featuring an on-site Trader Joe’s store.

District Lot 1 (Turing), 1355 McCandless Dr.

This is a 7-story mixed-use project, with 350,526 sq ft of 371-unit apartment and 48,510 sq ft commercial retail space on the ground floor, wrapped around a 7-tier 247,526 sq ft of parking garage.  

The apartment has a leasing office, sales center, co-working office, and 3 courtyards on the ground level and 2 courtyards on the podium level.

There is a roof-top amenity deck that includes a pool and spa, community lounge, lawn/event area, and BBQ area.

This building obtained final occupancy on December 13, 2019.

Trader Joe’s:

The Turing Community features an on-site Trader Joe’s store, a 14,911 sq ft retail grocery store that also sells pre-packaged food items.

Construction and tenant improvement started in June 2020.  Trader Joe’s opened Store 229 in September 2020.

The store opening provides thousands of local residents with easy access to a full-service grocery store within walking distance and is generating interest from other retailers to invest in the area.

The Milpitas location created 75 new jobs and is anticipated to increase nearby home value because of urban amenities.

Turing and Trader Joes

District Lot 2 (Graham), 1415 McCandless Dr.

This is a 6-story mixed-use project, with 266,524 sq ft of 207-unit apartment and 7,735 sq ft commercial retail space on the ground floor, wrapped around a 6-tier 126,258 sq ft of parking garage.  

The project began construction in September 2018.  After 3 years, construction and inspection of the development is nearing completion.

As of June 2021, all of the units have had final inspections and have been issued a temporary certificate of occupancy.

District Lot 2 Graham

District Lot 3 (Elion), 1320 McCandless Dr.

This is an 8-story mixed-use project, with 315,576 sq ft of 357-unit apartment and 17,754 sq ft commercial retail space on the ground floor, wrapped around a 8-tier 307,541 sq ft of parking garage.  

The apartment has a leasing office and co-work space on the ground level.

There is a roof-top amenity deck that includes a pool and spa, BBQ area, clubhouse, and fitness center.

The building permit plan review is near completion.

A 7-story 162-room hotel with a variety of room types is also proposed at this site.

The proposed hotel rooms are furnished with a full kitchen and in-unit washer/dryer facilities.

The building permit application has not yet been submitted.

The hotel operator will provide outdoor furnishings for patrons and guests to activate the public realm.

District Lot 3

District Lot 4 (Gideon), 1400 McCandless Dr.

This is an 8-story mixed-use project, with 196,725 sq ft of 213-unit apartment and 11,544 sq ft commercial retail space on the ground floor, wrapped around a 7-tier 132,413 sq ft of parking garage.  

The apartment has a leasing office and fitness center on the ground level.

There is a roof-top amenity deck that includes a pool and spa, BBQ area, and clubhouse.

The project began construction in May 2020.

Construction and inspection of the parking garage is approximately 90% complete with work remaining on the amenity deck with a clubhouse, pool, and spa.

The wrap-around apartment building framing is approximately 70% complete.  Framing on the final segment of five stories plus lofts for the apartments is in progress.  Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations for the units are beginning in summer 2021.
