We always need our MVPs, but we have an immediate need for volunteer support now.
Assist with Food Distribution. Volunteers are needed to support Milpitas Unified School District Food Services expanded efforts to provide meals for adult family members – packaging and distributing meals. Distributions are Thursday mornings at selected school sites. Volunteers will need to complete a free, 30-minute online training to obtain a Food Safety Certificate. Contact Rcacao@ci.milpitas.ca.gov.
Sew cloth face coverings. Work at home to sew cloth face coverings for free distribution to fellow Milpitas residents in need. The Milpitas Rotary Club and Milpitas Executive Lions Club are leading this effort. You can coordinate mask drop off and/or supplies pick up by emailing email@example.com.
Assist in distributing flyers to businesses serving non-English speakers. Volunteers are needed to deliver COVID-19 flyers in Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish to grocery stores and other essential businesses currently open and serving a high percentage of non-English speaking customers. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteer Translators are still needed to help translate and proofread documents. The languages needed are Chinese, Spanish and Vietnamese. This can be done through email. Contact email@example.com.
We hope our MVPs can answer the call and provide support to the community during this time. We look forward to seeing our MVPs in-person again when we return to regular operations.
Opportunities exist for working on a variety of tasks in every department within the City structure. Different opportunities are available at various times throughout the year and time commitments vary based on the specific task requirements and the volunteers’ availability. All those interested in volunteering must complete an MVP application and pass the screening and interview process specific to a given opportunity.
The MVP mission is to utilize the diverse talents of volunteers for the benefit of the City of Milpitas and the community as a whole. We hope to enable volunteers to gain personal satisfaction and experience through meaningful volunteerism within a City agency. With the contribution of volunteers, we seek to ensure quality customer services and enhance the quality of life in our community.
“The reasons why people volunteer are as diverse as the volunteers themselves. People volunteer to return something to the community, maintain job skills, learn new skills, meet people with similar interests, have fun, complete school requirements, and for personal satisfaction”.
Volunteering offers everyone a chance to personally, as well as professionally grow. It offers the opportunity to meet and work with different and interesting people, while having a common goal to make a difference in the community you live in.
All of the community’s residents and businesses benefit from the contributions made by Milpitas Volunteer Partners. Volunteer for a day, a month, a year, or more! Long term and short term volunteer opportunities are available to fit everyone’s schedule. Whatever the length of time, MVP will try to match your schedule with an appropriate opportunity, depending on your volunteer commitment.
