We always need our MVPs, but we have an immediate need for volunteer support now.
Food Distribution. The Second Harvest Food Bank has a number of volunteer opportunities between November 18 – December 21, 2020.
To sign-up please use this link: Second Harvest Volunteer Calendar. Please use the LIST view rather than Calendar view so that you can see the names of the 4 different roles/shifts. Second Harvest has recently had a few volunteers report being sent to an error page after they signed up. All these volunteers were in fact confirmed sign-ups despite this glitch. If this happens to you (we hope not) or you have any other questions or difficulties, please email: email@example.com or call the Second Harvest Volunteer Services team at (408) 266-8866. Second Harvest is always happy to help or hear any ideas you have.
Volunteer Translators are still needed to help translate and proofread documents. We have an immediate need for volunteers that can read and write Vietnamese. The other languages needed are Chinese and Spanish. This can be done through email. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Volunteer Photographers. We need your help building our photo library with photos from around Milpitas. If you’re an avid photographer, please send your photography portfolio to email@example.com. All ages and skill-levels welcome.

Milpitas HOPE Suicide Prevention Task Force is seeking new members to help reach our diverse community, especially the underserved teen and LGBTQ+ community, and Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish speakers. If you are interested, please email Tegan McLane at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope our MVPs can answer the call and provide support to the community during this time. We look forward to seeing our MVPs in-person again when we return to regular operations.
Opportunities exist for working on a variety of tasks in every department within the City structure. Different opportunities are available at various times throughout the year and time commitments vary based on the specific task requirements and the volunteers’ availability. All those interested in volunteering must complete an MVP application and pass the screening and interview process specific to a given opportunity.
The MVP mission is to utilize the diverse talents of volunteers for the benefit of the City of Milpitas and the community as a whole. We hope to enable volunteers to gain personal satisfaction and experience through meaningful volunteerism within a City agency. With the contribution of volunteers, we seek to ensure quality customer services and enhance the quality of life in our community.
“The reasons why people volunteer are as diverse as the volunteers themselves. People volunteer to return something to the community, maintain job skills, learn new skills, meet people with similar interests, have fun, complete school requirements, and for personal satisfaction”.
Volunteering offers everyone a chance to personally, as well as professionally grow. It offers the opportunity to meet and work with different and interesting people, while having a common goal to make a difference in the community you live in.
All of the community’s residents and businesses benefit from the contributions made by Milpitas Volunteer Partners. Volunteer for a day, a month, a year, or more! Long term and short term volunteer opportunities are available to fit everyone’s schedule. Whatever the length of time, MVP will try to match your schedule with an appropriate opportunity, depending on your volunteer commitment.
